Alexandra Tost joined RIFS in February 2021 as a research associate. She is part of the research group 'Ecopolitics and Just Transformations', which critically examines how power relations are transformed when the horizon of government shifts from populations to the planetary conditions of life as a whole. In 2022 was part of the coordination team for the RIFS Focal Topic "Justice in Sustainability". Currently she conducts her doctoral research on the political ecology of Chile's green hydrogen policy.
She holds an interdisciplinary MA in International Development Studies from Philipps-Universität Marburg and a BA in Political Science and Economics from Universität Potsdam. From 2014 to 2020 she worked in political and technical development cooperation in Latin America mainly for GIZ and Friedrich Ebert Foundation. During this time, she coordinated multi-stakeholder and transdisciplinary dialogues and knowledge exchange from the local to the international level. Her work and research focus on socio-ecological transformation, Latin America, (international) political ecology, extractivism and international dependencies, democracy and participation, sustainability, climate policy and adaptation.
